Questions to ponder
- Why do we want/ought to listen to God?
- How do we listen to God? What are the mean
- What are some barriers to hearing God?
Check this dvd out:
1. Hearing within the frame of a relationship
with God
1 Samuel 3:1-21: Samuel did not recognize God’s voice first
because he did not know him!
I am not to seek God's voice in an attitude of using God but in an attitude of relationship with God.
- "Listening to
God is obedience".
- "What I look
for is God himself, not the experience."
- "Listening prayer is friendship with God."
2. Listening to God in the frame of discipline
- Adoration
- Confession
- Thankfulness
- Petition
- Intercession
I was sharing some of these thoughts this past Sunday and the next day I received an e-mail from one of the people who heard. She says: "I would like to share with you some of the things I learnt yesterday. This morning, when I was doing my devotional, I was praying and thinking "What is God going to speak to me through his Word today?" I read Titus, thinking that Paul was writing directly to me and I have experienced something very special and I have learnt a lot."
Praise God for His Word! praise God that he speaks! Praise God when we apply what we learn! Praise God when we are willing for Him to speak to our heart through his Word!
